If you plan on layering, I would say order what size you normally do unless you are like me and always size up for jackets. If you're smaller than me (I'm 5'3 and 150 pounds, small torso and thick bottom half) and plan on layering, I think a small would work. If I were to wear layers under this it would fit nicely, but I know I am not because I get hot SUPER easily and knew layers plus this jacket would be too much no matter how cold it was. ORIGINAL REVIEW (scroll down for update): I bought this jacket because I needed a decently thick, waterproof jacket because I am moving to the mountains for college. It's a steal for the price. It fits perfect for me to wear short sleeves or a thin long sleeve underneath, which is what I was planning on doing because I know this jacket will keep me plenty warm. I absolutely despise jackets and never wear one even if the temperature gets below freezing where I live, (which it almost never does), because I just get hot and started sweating extremely easily. I usually order medium jackets, but that size was too big and bulky for me in this jacket. However I knew I had no choice now because I would be in a lot colder weather than I'm used to where the winds make it seem 10x colder, but I wanted a jacket that wasn't bulky but would keep me warm. Although I have not tried it out in cold weather, (which I will update this review when I do), I am 100% positive short sleeves and this jacket would be plenty warm for me. The lowest it will get on average where I am going will be around 20 degrees Fahrenheit with "feels like" temperatures being ever colder. I think I am going to return this for a small and see how that works for me. I bought this because I thought it fit that bill and I was disappointed, but that may be because I got the wrong size. However, this jacket is really nice material and I know it will hold up well in the weather I am moving to. It has plenty of outside and inside pockets to hold all your items and keep them dry. I feel like this doesn't fit like it looks in the picture as well if that makes sense. UPDATE: I returned this jacket and reordered for a size small, blue jacket (which looks a lot cuter btw) and I love it, even though I hate jackets. It fits like I expected the first one to. In the picture it looks like it would fit flat and to sort of your figure, but it doesn't. I couldn't wear anything thicker than a medium thickness long sleeve shirt because of how it fits. It is a bit tight around my upper arms and shoulders, but a lot of my clothes fit like that because I am broad-shouldered and my upper arms are thicker, and it's fine with me. I love this jacket 100x more now that I ordered a smaller size, and a different color. I usually wear a medium in all jackets, so I ordered one, because although I have a small torso, my shoulders are broad and my upper arms are a bit thicker so I need room to move them. However if you are my size or a little bigger and want to layer, order a medium. I usually wear size small shirts and the small fits me like I want and where I wouldn't have room to layer. I am 5'3" and 150 pounds. So base what size you need off of this, but even if you don't like it, you get your return in the form of a gift card the day you drop your package off and can receive your new jacket in 2 days for free, so it's really no hassle. I love my jacket and am happy I returned and re-ordered! I will update my review to tell how well it holds up in mountain snow, cold, rain, and wind. However I think this jacket is somewhat large. It kind of bulges out in the back and sides and fits a lot thicker.
To my additional surprise, the zipper pull was on the correct (right) side. Stitching seems fine, contrary to some reviews. The zippers are not the most rugged in the world but all have pull strings and also seem to work fine. So five stars for everything I was looking for especially value for the price. I did a lot of research before buying this and was very impressed after trying it on and trying it out in -28 degree weather. The only negative I thought I was going to have to live with was a zipper pull on the left side -based upon the photo and some reviews.
Great jacket? I was concerend with the it as i am 6’5 270lbs but the jackwt fits very well and is very warm.
I’ve tried sport brass that make you feel constricted and zippered ones that don’t stay closed. I bought a three pack of Aikiki a month ago and just received a fouour pack. I love the colors AND most importantly the fit and coverage. I’d say the support is medium, but that serves my everyday needs. I absolutely love them and will order more. I have worn underwire bras for years and hated them.
I highly recommend Ugly Stick Elite or gx2. I have had several poles over 25 years and last summer we went out and bought 2 fenwick and 2 okuma. We were up at Tom's place and we snapped both brands 4" down from the tip. Anyone who fishes knows that would be user error on a vertical lift when hooked however Ugly Stick nope. We went back to Ugly Stick elite same spot and actually bigger fish and didn't snap.
